Meet Our Team

Flash back 15 years ago…Did you see yourself being where you are today?

That’s a great question and I have a great answer.  15 years ago I was at Palmer Chiropractic College, in California, and had an assignment for my philosophy class.  The professor asked us to envision where we would like to be in 15 years.  I drafted a 10 page paper with every aspect of where I would like to be and how my practice would look.  My career did not start out the way I initially envisioned, but once I opened Balance Chiropractic & Wellness, the details of the paper I wrote began to take shape.  I can confidently say, the dreams I had as a young student have come to fruition and I now have the practice of my dreams.  I love everyone I work with, work on and have the opportunity to learn from.  Be careful what you wish for…because what you think about, you bring about!

What motivated you to pursue a degree and certifications in clinical nutrition?

After practicing as a chiropractor for 12 years, I became increasingly concerned with so many of my patients presenting with illnesses such as Diabetes, Autoimmune Diseases, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Cardiovascular Disease and hormonal imbalances. These patients required additional care that I was not able to provide. I wanted to increase my knowledge to become a better doctor to care for these patients, so in September of 2006, I enrolled in a 2-year Master of Science (MS) degree program and graduated in 2008 with a Master of Science Degree in Applied Clinical Nutrition (M.S). That same year, I also became a Certified Nutrition Specialist (C.N.S.) in addition to becoming Board-Certified in Clinical Nutritionist. As a Science Based Nutrition affiliated practitioner, I completed a 6 Module Course of study and examination from the American Nutrition Association and became a Certified Ketogenic Nutrition Specialist (C.K.N.S.). Whether as a Chiropractor or Clinical Nutritionist, I have always worked toward increasing my knowledge to better care for my patients. I attend multiple seminars each year on a variety of healthcare related topics and plan to continue try education in topics such as Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimers's and Cancer.

What’s it like working with your husband?

Jeff and I have been together for 20 years.  We met the first week of college and haven’t separated since. Once we knew that we were pursuing the fields of chiropractic and psychology in college, we purchased the website name “mindandspine.com”, hoping one day we could work together to improve people’s emotional and physical wellbeing.  Many years later our dream became a reality and we are able to collaborate to make the world a better place.

When you are not at the office, what can we most likely find you doing?

Most days you can find me running around from field to field with my 2 kids.  Since joining the Balance team, I have adopted healthier lifestyle habits such as, eating cleaner and using natural approaches to take care of my family’s health.  I am so grateful to be a part of Balance Wellness!

How long have you been working at Balance and how has it changed?

I have been with Dr. Jeff since the beginning…June 13th 2013.  It was me, Doc and a laptop!  In the 10 years since, we have surpassed all my expectations. We went from Balance Chiropractic & Wellness Center offering Chiropractic only to Balance Wellness Center. We now offer many additional services to provide a complete wellness experience for our patients. Our growth has been monumental, and I am always so overwhelmed by all of the love and positive feedback we get from our patients.

What about nutrition excites you?

I get most excited when I see how the power of food improves my patient’s mind and body. I have helped many people lose weight and learn how to eat a high-quality diet. My goal is to educate people on how to make lifestyle changes in order to maintain a healthy weight. I believe food is our medicine. I am grateful to spend my days empowering others to achieve their best in nutrition, and maximize their health and wellbeing from the inside out. Since our expansion to Balance Wellness Center, I became certified in Meditation and provide guided meditation classes and well as workshops.

Why is healing the energy body important for physical well being?

Everything that we come in contact with has an affect on our energy field. We also store emotional trauma in our auric field. If left unacknowledged, these issues can manifest into physical pain and even illness. By addressing these imbalances through reiki, sound healing and crystal therapy you can realign the energy body which in turn heals the physical body.

What led you to become an Acupuncturist?

After a car accident in 2009 I received acupuncture, and after receiving amazing results I decided to pursue a career in Chinese Medicine.

I graduated from South Baylo University, CA with a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and then received a certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In conjunction with acupuncture, I practice trigger point dry needling, massage, herbal medicine, cupping, and facial stretching. In 2015 I lived at Blue Cliff Monastery Pine Bush NY for 1 year and in 2021 I completed my first 10 day Vipassana retreat training.

How long have you been an Acupuncturist and what have you gained over the years?

I have been a Licensed Acupuncturist for over 20 years! I have gained a deep appreciation for the complexities of the healing process, and I like to think I have gained some humility in being able to be a channel of help and healing for the people I serve.
